A little background of Happy Days Stables. Sonny was exposed to and became interested in gaited breeds at an early age growing up on his family's Point, Louisiana farm. He enjoyed riding grade "saddlers" and experimented with lots of different breed combinations. In the late 80's, Sonny decided it was time to start thinking about registered stock. A friend convinced us to travel to Missouri in 1989 to attend the Show & Celebration. By 1990, after doing some careful research and making several trips to Missouri, we purchased our first Foxtrotter, a sorrel "Missouri Traveler " filly from Mr. Amos Self. Mr. Self also stood the foundation sire, "Danney Joe W." for several years. Later, Sonny and Mr. Self's brother, W.O. Self convinced Mr. Amos to allow them to bring Danney Joe to Louisiana for a few months of breeding. The cross of our Missouri Traveler mare and Danney Joe W. produced our stallion "Danney Joe's Sunny Boy". And the rest, as they say, is history!
Come on in, check out our horses. We have crossed our well bred mares with several of the top stallions in our breed today. We think you will like what you see. Please call or e-mail us at the above address if you would like more information on any of our horses.
